Man detained after two girls 9 and 14 thrown 80ft from high rise to their deaths
A 23-year-old man has been detained after two girls, aged nine and 14, were thrown from the eighth floor of an apartment block in Russia.
One of the sisters died after the 80ft fall, while the other died at hospital as a result of her injuries.
Neighbours of the property in Kyzyl, the capital of Russiaâs mountainous Tyva republic, heard terrible screams as the girls fell - several minutes apart - in the early hours of the morning.
Ochur Sanchat, the detainee, was a relative of the girlsâ mother.
He had claimed they were âmaking too much noiseâ in a flat where he rented a room while being on the run from police, law enforcement sources said.
The childrenâs mother was working a night shift at a cafe when her daughters were killed, while her third daughter, a twin sister of the nine year old, was in bed at the time and remained unhurt.

The man confessed to throwing the girls from a window, law enforcement said.
He was described as being on the run from police over a car theft.
He had fled from court and was on Russiaâs federal wanted list.
A neighbour called Irina heard the terrible screams as the girls were thrown out.

âWhile I was trying to figure out what was happening, literally a minute passed, there was a strong roar, terrible screams, and then everything subsided for three or four minutes.
âThen it happened againâ¦
âI was alone at home with my children.â
Irena said she didnât stick her head out, but instead called the police.
The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed the 23 year old had been detained for two months.
Detectives are also checking reports that police had been called to the family home multiple times in the week leading up to the tragic deaths.
